CHOQUEQUIRAO 4 DAYS

DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIQUISCA                  
ChoquequiraoWe start our trip by picking you up from your hotel at about 6:00 a.m., after that, we head toward  the village of Cachora, on the route we will also pass by the small town of Anta, to then reach to the Archaeological Complex of Tarawasi, then we will  continue our trip to get to the Cunyac bridge,  which is the point of reference in many aspects on this route, we will also pass by the districts of Curawasi and Saywite to finally arrive to Cachora (at about 10:00 a.m.). We will get our horses ready and with the help of our muleteers we begin our hike up by a slight slope to get to the Abra de Capuliyoc (2800 m.a.s.l) which is the highest point in this part of the trip, after a two-hour walk. We will have lunch at this point. After lunch, we will hike toward the town of Chiquisca (1930 m.s.n.m.) Along the route we will have the opportunity to watch wonderful landscapes and natural sceneries, a warm weather, the snowed picks of the Vilcabamba mountain range and the striking view of the Apurimac abyss, We will find here our first camp site. Overnight.


DAY 2: CHIQUISCA – MARAMPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO.
ChoquequiraoAfter an early breakfast (5:30 a.m). We begin our second day of this hiking adventure, this time we will head  toward the Rosalinas river banks (located at 1550 m.a.s.l), and we will be led up along a slope toward Santa Rosa (1900 m.a.s.l) in a three-hour hike approximately, then we start to ascend as far as Marampata (2800 m.s.n.m) this is a slighter ascent, during which we will be able to appreciate the route we walked by the day before, when we first came into this zone,  and the wonderful vegetation which is typical of this part, we will also be able to watch some orchids and violets, if we are lucky we will also be able to appreciate the natural fauna of the zone such as deer, anthill bears and a big diversity of birds and insects, then we will walk along a stretch heading to Choquequirao which is at an altitude of 2700 m.o.s.l. This is our second camp site. We will spend overnight here.


DAY 3: – CHOQUEQUIRAO - CHIQUISCA
ChoquequiraoEarly breakfast, after that we will head to the Archaeological Complex of Choquequirao, and we will be able to observe the beautiful dawn in Choquequirao, we will have an about three-hour visit  led by our Professional Tour Guide who will explain everything about this Inca important refuge. We will get into this Center starting by the platforms whose structure is unique and perfect, this place has a very wide variety of flora, fauna and special kinds of birds which are very characteristic of the zone since it is located in a tropical outline, after enjoying this natural charm (choquequirao) we will begin our return hike to reach our camp and descend until Santa Rosa where our lunch is ready waiting for us, we will then start descending as far as the Rosalinas river banks and go back to the town of Chiquisqa which is located at two hours walk from Rosalinas. This is the third campsite where we will spend overnight.        

DAY 4: CHIQUISQA – CUSCO                                        
After a well done breakfast in our Chiquisqa campsite, at about 06:00 a.m, we begin our return trip by  the same route we came into this place heading to Cachora ,that is, the slope we walked down on the first day, this is a slighter ascent which takes about two hours to get to the Abra de Capuliyoc and after another two-hour hike we will arrive to the town of Cachora, this is a much slighter tract to where we will arrive approximately at about 12:00 p.m., along this track we will appreciate the great flora and exotic fauna, we will have a panoramic view of the imposing snowed picks and the striking beauty of the Apurimac canyon,which is  considered as the most spectacular in South America. Optionally, in the afternoon, we can be able to go to the medicinal hot-springs waters that can be found in Qonoq where we can take an hour-break to rest and relax, then we will continue our return trip to Cusco, the Imperial Capital City, to where  we will arrive at approximately 8:00 p.m. Transfer to your hotel. End of our services

WE RECOMMEND TO TAKE:

  • walking shoes. Raincoats or poncho.
  • Hat or light helmets for protection against the sun or cold.
  • Appropriate clothes for the walk, cold and heat.
  • Sleeping bags (you can hire them at our office if you don’t have it).
  • Small towels.
  • Sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
  • Original passport.
  • Bottled water, purifying (micropur) pills.
  • Canteen.
  • Energizing. Toilet Paper
  • Lantern.
  • Photo Camera or video camera, batteries.

OPTIONAL :

  • Rubber covered canes for the walk.
