Shamanism in the Heart of the Andes

Qeros Work

They will share their work through.

Work shops:

This is an introduction to the shamanistic work. You will learn the basic tools from the shamans, including different kind of ceremonies.

Initiation:

This initiations we call the “Hatun Karpay”, the grate initiation of the Andean tradition. After some time on this shamanistic path, the shamans can help you to open up more and integrate on a deeper level, what you have learned so fare. This integration helps you to be in total connection with your self and Mother Nature. It opens up your heart and make you more sensitive in different levels in life. It will help you to see your self and your path more clear.

Healing Despacho:

A despacho is a colourful offering, in which a mandala is formed with things taken from Mother Nature, such as coca leaves, flowers, lama fat, cotton and rice. Every element has its own function and meaning. The despacho is the connection through which the spirits can gain access into our world and through which the healing can take place. The despacho is a ritual in which food is offered to the Great Spirit, the Apus, Mother Earth and the Nusta’s. Apus are spiritual beings which are connected to specific energetically powerful mountains. Nusta’s are virgins, guardian angels which take care of the earthly powers. During the ritual, you put your prayers and intentions inside the despacho and you also (re)establish the connection with the apus and energies of your birth place and the sacred places you work with.

When the despacho has been formed, the healer will cleanse your energy field with the despacho. Depending of the reason for which the despacho has been made, he will be offered to the Spirits by burning, burrying into the earth or into the water at a quiet place. Through the banquet of food you have prepared for them, they will bless you and fulfill your prayers and intentions. At that moment, the exchange of energy (also called Ayni in Quechua, the Inca Language) will start. The healer will establish the connection with the Spirits through the smoke of the despacho and fill you with the energy of Mother Earth and the Spirit World. During the blowing of this energy into your crown chakra and your body, the Paco calls for your personal guardian angel and the change of energy within yourself starts to work. The despacho is a simple, but very powerful form of healing and transformation which can be used in a lot of cases such as physical healing, communication and relationship improvement, soul balance, soul retrieval, soul extraction, etc.  It is a unique exchange of sacred energy between your inner-self and the Spirits.

Cleansing ceremony:

This ritual is performed to restore your energetic balance: when your energetic fields are out of balance, when you carry a lot of old emotional or heavy energy with you or when you have absorbed a lot of negative energy from others. Cleansing means that you get purified by leaving these old things behind. With prayers, water and herbs, the healer cleanses your energetic bodies from the top of your head to your feet and your aura is cleansed of all negative and old energies. After that, you will be washed with water of white flowers, maize flour and a special stone powder from your feet to the top of your head in order to attract clarity, light and positive energy. The cleansing ritual is normally followed by a despacho, in which you and the Paco join together to put your prayers and intentions for that what you want to receive as a new beginning.

Coca reading:

Coca is a sacred plant for the inhabitants of the Andes. Mama Coca brings the message from Spirit to mankind. Next to that, she helps the inhabitants of the mountains with extra energy for working on the land or walking long distances. In a coca reading consult, you receive direction in your life and get answers on ‘specific’ questions which are important for you at this very moment. With help of the coca leaves, the Paqo will get information from the Spirit World on your questions about your situation and well-being in this moment, but also about possibilities in the future.

He also uses the coca to check what he can mean for you, which type of healing you need at this moment, if you are ready to receive a personal initiation. A coca reading is like consulting an oracle. The Healer reads the information which comes from the Spirit of the sacred coca plant through the position in which the coca leaves fall. It is only after many years of working with the coca plant, that the shaman can establish a strong connection with the energy of mama coca which enables him to receive the divine information.

Mesa work:

A mesa is a ritual object. It is a made of a woven cloth. Inside you put your personal ritual objects which have a special spiritual significance for you. It can be objects which come from your stone medicine: crystals, minerals or stones you have a strong connection with. You can also put stones in your mesa which you find in nature from the energetic places you work with.
The objects can also come from your plant medicine or animal medicine.
The mesa is a channel to which you can connect yourself with the energy of an object inside or with Pachamama or the Spirits. The mesa is the tool through which you can establish the connection with the Spirit World for example to call the help or the power of an Apu you’ve been working with. You could compare it to a refrigerator which you can open at any time to take out the food that you need the most at that specific moment. It is also used to heal yourself or other persons. With the help of the power of the stones, crystals, etc. inside your mesa, you purify by absorbing the heavy energy of a person into your stones. If you don’t have a mesa in advance, you can buy a mesa cloth from the Q’ero people and create your own personal mesa during the spiritual work with the Qeros.

SHAMANISM IN THE HEART OF THE ANDES.

For me the most magnificent moment’s in life is when I can feel the stillness within. When I feel the oneness with Mother Nature and all that exist, when I don’t judge, when fear doesn’t exist, when I trust completely, in this moments I find my strength and get closer to who I am. Being close to nature in powerful places like Peru and Egypt, helps me to get a touch, a feeling of what once existed, our old history, the old traditions, with so much pure energy. A longing was there and I had to search more, more in the direction of nature and Mother Earth.

Together with the Paqos (in Peru they don’t use the word shaman, but Paqos) who have lived in one with nature for generations, we have the most beautiful opportunities to find back to our true nature, to live in beauty, and to find answers to many of our deepest questions.

You will feel the silence within growing, in this beautiful nature of Peru, together with the Qeros and their paqos (priest healers).

The people in Qero have a direct relationship with the natural environment and through this they achieve harmony with the natural world. They consider themselves as the children of Mother Earth. These beliefs wake up in them a deep respect for the things they consider to be sacred like the mountains, the earth, the sun, the moon and the lakes. The Qero are considered to be the ultimate descendants of the Incas. They have inherited the Inca religion and are the guardians of this ancient culture. They have developed their shamanism through hundreds of years of isolated contact with the natural world with the help of their Paqos. These wisdom keepers and healers in the Qero tradition are considered to be the best Andean healers in Peru, famous for their despacho ceremonies in which they give gifts of food, coca leaves, incense, flowers, and various other offerings to the Apus (Sacred Mountains) and to the Pacha Mama (Mother Earth). Like all shamans, they are the intermediaries between the people in our known world and the spirits of the (super) natural world.
By traveling for months in this beautiful landscape, I would like to share the beauty and the pureness that I saw and felt in meeting this beautiful people.  I feel time is running, and for me it’s important to receive and being able to recognize the  wisdom within, when we still have this pure energy among us.
